1. What UCLA Regents Scholarship is all about

The Regents Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship that recognizes students on the basis of their academic performance and personal achievements rather than their financial needs.

This is a competitive stipend awarded to undergraduate students at the University of California.

Regents Students receive up to $8,000 in compensation, paying $2,000 in each of their 4 or 2 undergraduate years (for freshman or transfer students), including other extra benefits.

2. Is the Regents Scholarship need-based scholarship?

All students who meet the criteria can be awarded a one-time grant.

Need is not taken into cognizance when assessing eligibility for either the one-time award or the equivalent reward of my529 (formally UESP).

Students who show a shortfall in the ability to pay for tuition, as shown by FAFSA’s Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) of the student, and taking into account potential state and federal support that the student has already earned, may apply for additional funding that may be provided for up to four semesters.

3. How to get a Regents Scholarship

To earn the merit-based Regents Scholarship, you must complete the requisite classes for grades 9-12, fulfill minimum GPA standards, ACT criteria, minimum class performance standards for the core courses and graduate from an approved Utah high school.

4. How much you can Earn from the Regents Scholarship

The Regents Scholarship is sponsored by Utah State, and financing can vary yearly

The three reward percentages for the 2015-2016 college academic year are as follows: Base Reward: up to a one-time $1,000. Exemplary Educational Award: Renewable for up to four semesters, up to $1,250.

5. Eligibility for Regents Scholarship

To be qualified for the Regents Scholarship, you must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or non-citizen recipient with excellent academic credentials under California Assembly Bills 130 or 131.

The Regents Scholarship is strictly available only for candidates who fall into these category.

6. How to get UCLA scholarship

Please note the following conditions in applying for the scholarship program offered by UCLA.

  • Must complete an on-line “UCLA Scholarship Application” available through MyUCLA
  • Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Must submit a FAFSA or Dream Act application by the March 2nd priority deadline annually to be considered

7.Uses of Regents Scholarship

The Regents Scholarship enables Utah high school graduates to academically and financially ready  by taking a fundamental study course in grades 9-12 and savings to university.

This federal scholarship is associated with the Utah Scholars Core Course of Study, which is based on national recommendations as provided by the State Scholars Initiative.

Also, classes and the scholarship needs are known to help the students get ready for college and employment.

Furthermore, it helps high school seniors during their final year to complete a successful course work.

8. Taxability of Regent Scholarship

The Regents Scholarship benefit does not become deductible until it substantially meets the exclusion cap, and it is not necessary to apply a taxable benefit to the gross income of an individual under the expectation that, at a future date, they may surpass the exclusion number.

9. Application Mode for Regents Scholarship

To get UCLA Regents Scholarship, applicants are required to take admission or transfer at UCLA through filling the University of California Application for Admission (http://www.ucla.edu/admission/). After that, students will be eligible to apply the award (https://prospective-ugstudents-ucla.academicworks.com/users/sign_in).

10. Qualifications for the Regents Scholarship

To earn the Regents Scholarship, you must:

  • Complete the required courses during grades 9-12
  • Earn a 3.3 cumulative high school GPA
  • Graduate from an accredited Utah high school
  • Be a United States citizen or a non-citizen eligible for federal student aid
  • Earn at least a composite score of 22 on the ACT
  • Meet all application deadlines to be eligible for the scholarship
  • Submit the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)
  • Meet college enrollment or deferment requirements; and you must meet the above requirements to qualify for application.

11. Required course to be taken in an application for the scholarship

The required courses must be completed during grades 9-12 and are as follows:

  1. 4 credits of English
  2. 4 credits of Math
  3. (At least 1 class must be selected from the “Advanced” course list, listed in the Regents’ Scholarship Rules and Requirements)
  4. 3 credits of Social Science
  5. 3 credits of lab-based Science, specifically one each of Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
  6. 2 credits of the same world language (other than English)

12. ACT score needed for the scholarship

Applicants with a minimum ACT composite of 30 and a rank in the top 25 per cent of their graduating class (6th or 7th semester) or a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher will qualify for the award.

13. Changes in the requirements for the scholarship

The UCLA Regents Scholarship was established by law in Utah, and is subject to changes at interval.

Furthermore, we revise our curriculum manuals in order to explain the scholarship rules better.

For certain situations, the Utah State Board of Education will adjust the list of courses to fulfill the scholarship as the courses expand or new classes are created.

Revised EDITION of the Regents Scholarship Rules and Requirements are given each April for the current high school academic year, which will reflect all the changes.

14. How to check scholarship Application Status

We will send you a notification via your electronic Financial Aid Notification (eFAN) once the Regents Scholarship is processed.

15. When to apply for the scholarship

You’ll apply in your senior year. Because the program normally opens mid-November and closes February 1st yearly.

And our priority deadline is set each year but normally the first week of December.

16.Ways of Funding the scholarship

The Uta state Legislation, a federal authorization is the anchorer and funds the scholarship program

And this is why annual reward percentages are determined — they are subject to statutory allocation and the number of participating candidates every year.

Our award vary from year to year, and it depends on where the applicant is enrolled in class.

But if you postpone your scholarship, when you return to enroll in college the grant number will be different.

17. Knowing the status of your Application

We will inform students their Regents Scholarship account through the Message Center.

If we sent a message  to the Message Center you will receive an email that will give you access to sign and read the message.

You may also choose to accept a text message instructing you to sign in to read your message.

We advice that you do it immediately when you get a notification to sign in because messages are often time-sensitive and demands action urgently.
